The national football team of Moldova will play a friendly match against the former world champion Italy at the Ennio Tardini Stadium in Parma, on October 7, starting at 9:45pm, IPN reports.

Italy won the title of world champion for four times, in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006. It also won the European Championship in 1968.

Moldova and Italy have met for four times so far, in the qualifying rounds of the World Championships of 1998 and 2006. Italy won every time.

Moldova manager Engin Firat said he would like a friendly to also be played in August, before the start of the UEFA Nations League.
