The Moldovan Football Federation is holding talks with three national teams that qualified for the 2014 World Championship on playing a friendly in June. Thus, the ‘tricolors’ can meet Cameroon, South Korea or Columbia.
The match against Columbia may take place in Argentina on June 7, against Cameroon - the same day on their field, while with South Korea – on June 9 in Florida. “These national teams have financial claims and do not want to play in Chisinau. We are carrying out talks with them so as to play a friendly in June,” vice president of the Moldovan Football Federation Ion Testemitanu has told IPN.
Moldova didn’t remain without friendlies at the end of the championship. Ion Caras’s pupils will play two exhibition matches in May. The encounter with Saudi Arabia was scheduled to take place in the Spanish town Jerez on May 24, while the friendly against Canada – three days later in Salzburg region of Austria. Earlier, the national team of Moldova didn’t play official or friendly matches against these two squads.
“We need to play as many friendlies as possible so as to prepare ourselves seriously for a new qualification season,” said Ion Testemitanu.
On September 8, Moldova enters the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying competition and meets Montenegro away. Moldova plays in a group with Russia, Sweden, Austria, and Liechtenstein.
