Moldova to pay honorariums of €190,000 to two law firms

The Cabinet approved the decision to pay honorariums to the law firms that will defend the interests of the state in two arbitrary lawsuits filed against the Republic of Moldova. The honorariums total over €190,000, IPN reports.

Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari said the interests of the state will be defended by KPMG Advisory SRL of Romania and Skadden of Germany and expert Tobias Tröger, teacher of law at the Goethe-University Frankfurt Institute of Private and Business Law.

The lawsuits against Moldova to the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce were filed by the firms Evrobalt and Kompozit over alleged violation of provisions of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Russian Federation on the reciprocal promotion and protection of investments. These claim that they made an investment in a bank in Chisinau. The National Bank of Moldova ascertained that the firms acted concertedly with other shareholders and obliged these to sell their shares.
