Moldova to open consulate in Jerusalem

Moldova will open an Honorific Consulate in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Vlad Filat announced in a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Government, the inter-human relations between Moldova and Israel, which are supported by the about 100,000 Moldovans who repatriated to Israel and their descendants, was a separate subject for discussion. Vlad Filat said that in order to strengthen the bilateral relations, Moldova decided to open an Honorific Consulate in Jerusalem. The two officials also discussed the situation of the community of Moldovan Jews and their contribution to developing the relations between the two states. In this connection, Vlad Filat said the Israeli Cultural Center in Chisinau works very dynamically. The abolition of the visa regime was another topic for discussion. The Premiers stressed the necessity of intensifying the dialogue so as to enable the Moldovan travelers to enter Israel without visas. There was also considered the possibility of granting a quota of 1,000 places for Moldovan workers in Israel. The given subject is to be examined by experts. Vlad Filat is paying an official visit to Israel on May 14-16, at the invitation of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
