In the first qualifying round of the Davis Cup, Europe/Africa Zone, the national tennis team of Moldova meets in Budapest the team of Hungary, which it eliminated in the same phase of the competition last year. The opponent was decided by a draw, IPN reports.
In 2013 and in 2014, Moldova went through to the playoff round, but lost the decisive matches against Portugal and Denmark respectively. If it eliminates Hungary, Moldova could play again against Bosnia, which meets Zimbabwe in the first round.
The leader of the national tennis team Radu Albot on October 30 qualified for the quarterfinals of the Challenger Tournament of Switzerland. He eliminated the competition’s favorite No. 3 Lukas Lacko. The Slovak player withdrew because of injury when the score was 5-1 for Albot in the first set. Albot also pays in the doubles, together with Romania’s Victor Hanescu.
