The Cabinet on March 30 approved a bill on the joining of the Customs Convention on Containers by Moldova, IPN reports.
The joining of this Convention will facilitate the transportation of freight and will ensure the fulfillment of a commitment stipulated in the national plan of action for implementing the Moldova –EU Association Agreement. This will have an economic effect and a positive impact on the environment as particular freight will be able to travel through Moldova without being unloaded.
The Convention allows for shipping intermodal containers to be brought from a ratifying state into a ratifying state duty- and tax-free for a period of three months.
The Customs Convention on Containers was adopted in Geneva on December 2, 1972.
