Almost 200 athletes from 14 countries will take part in the World Powerlifting Championship that will be held in Chisinau on November 1-2. Moldova will be represented by 60 sportspersons, IPN reports.
“Today we are the third-fourth in the world, but we want to be the first. Why not?” president of the National Power Triathlon Federation Boris Volosatyi said in a news conference.
The competition will take place at “Ginta Latina” Theater in Chisinau. “The choice was made by the president of the International Powerlifting Federation, who said that this is the most suitable place. We expect that Moldova will take the first spot in the team rankings at this tournament,” said Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Dragos Hancu.
For the organization of the world championship, the Ministry of Youth and Sport allocated 390,000 lei. Before the competition, the International Powerlifting Federation will stage a congress in Chisinau on October 31 to choose the administration of this federation.
