Moldova to host inauguration of regulatory body in Eastern Partnership

In the first quarter of 2012, Chisinau will host the third meeting of electronic communications regulatory agencies from Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, an event intended to create the EaP Regulators Group. The new organization is designed as a tool to strengthen cooperation relations, exchange of information and experience among the regulators. This was decided at the conclusion of the second meeting which was held during November 23-24 in Spain and attended by a delegation of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI). According to a press release from ANRCETI, European Commission members attending the second meeting suggested that Chisinau should host the next meeting and the inauguration of the new body, arguing that Moldova achieved good results in regulating the area of electronic communications, this being an occasion to learn from its experience. The Group of Electronic Communications Regulators of the Eastern Partnership countries will be composed of six national regulatory agencies from EaP member countries and several similar authorities from EU countries. Before the Group is formally inaugurated, Moldova's ANRCETI was tasked to provide support and facilitate cooperation among partner countries in activities related to the creation of this Group.
