Moldova to get US$ 12 m from U.S.

The United States of America will offer Moldova two grants to the total value of about US$ 12 million within two agreements signed earlier by the two states. Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Pușcuța, Minister of Finance, said the money will be provided in the form of technical assistance, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the Government on December 4 approved the augmentation of the total value of the Development Objective Assistance Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of the U.S. for a more efficient and responsible democratic government by US$ 6.6 million to US$ 50.8. The objective of the program is to ensure efficient and responsible democratic government in Moldova by involving citizens in the decision-making process of the Government and to ensure a more transparent and responsible judicial system.

The value of the Development Objective Assistance Agreement between the Government of Moldova and the Government of the U.S for expanding trade and investments in key sectors will be increased by US$ 5.4 million to US$ 48.4 million. The program is designed to improve competiveness, the business climate and the regulatory framework, to increase access to financing and fight corruption.
