Moldova to get 100 Sakura trees from Japanese city Tomi

The Republic of Moldova will receive 100 Japanese cherry trees as a present from the city of Tomi to mark the 100-day countdown to the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, IPN reports.

In a posting on a social networking site, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovscki said the ceremony to plant the Sakura trees will be held next spring during the visit that will be paid by the mayor of Tomi Toshio Hanaoka to Moldova.

Sakura trees will be panted near the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the National Olympics and Sports Committee, the Foundation for Moldovan-Japanese Relations, the Moldovan-Japanese Center for Staff Perfecting, in the square of the State University of Moldova and at the Cahul mayor’s office.

The 32nd Summer Olympic Games of 2020 will take place in Tokyo, Japan, during July 24 – August 9, 2020.
