Moldova to borrow €7.5m for improving medical services

Moldova will take out a loan of €7.5 million from Austria’s UniCredit Bank for modernizing and improving the medical services provided at the National Clinical Hospital. The Government of Moldova authorized the initiation of the negotiations on the signing of the lending agreement, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the feasibility study made in June 2011, the project envisions the installation of about 50 types of modern medical devices, the provision of emergency medical assistance and intensive care. There will be trained 13 medical specialists who will learn to use similar equipment at the Gatz Medical University in Austria for a month. UniCredit Bank will provide a concessional pre-mixed credit with two options that will be discussed during the negotiations. The first option is to repay the loan within 18 years, with a grace period of 5.5 years, at an interest rate of 0.4%. The second option is to repay the loan over 15 years, with a grace period of 5.5 years, at an interest rate of 0.0%. The group of negotiators includes Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi, and other officials.
