Moldova to be among countries whose citizens can travel to Greece for tourist purposes

The Republic of Moldova in the immediate period will be put on the list of countries whose citizens can travel to Greece for tourist purposes. The consent was confirmed in Athens, where a Moldovan delegation led by secretary of state Dumitru Socolan had a dialogue with the Greek Minister of Tourism Hary Theoharis, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, while in Athens where Moldovan-Greek inter-ministerial consultations were held with the General Director for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece Kiriakos Loukakis, the interlocutors conferred on the current stage of cooperation and the prospects of stimulating the bilateral relations at political, economic and social levels and of strengthening the legal framework.

On this occasion, the sides reaffirmed the commitment to develop the political and diplomatic dialogue, including by organizing the visits to the Republic of Moldova of the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and the chairman of the Greece-Moldova parliamentary friendship group Konstantinos Maravegias. Dumitru Socolan underlined the importance of realizing the whole economic and investment development potential, including by resuming the meetings of the Moldovan-Greek intergovernmental commission for economic corporation in the nearest future.

Special attention was devoted to subjects that hold interest for the Moldovan community in Greece. The sides also exchanged opinions on the developments in the region and agreed to strengthen the mutual assistance at regional and international levels, including in settling the Transnistrian conflict.
