The national men’s tennis squad of Moldova suffered the first defeat against Hungary in the first tour of the second group of the Euro-African zone at the Davis Cup, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the doubles played at the Polyvalent Hall in Chisinau on February 2, the pair Radu Albot / Andrei Ciumac were beaten by the Hungarian pair Marton Fucsovics / Viktor Filipenko by 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Despite the defeat, Moldova leads in the general rankings by 2-1 after the victories scored in the singles by Maxim Dubarenko and Radu Albot. Thus, the fate of the qualifiers will be decided on February 3, when the last two individual matches will be played. The leaders of the two teams, Radu Albot and Marton Fucsovics, will duel directly. The other match will involve Maxim Dubarenko and Viktor Filipenko. In order to qualify for the second round of the competition, the Moldovan tennis players must win one victory.
