Moldova takes part in Berlin Fairy Tale Festival

The 17th edition of the “Fairy Tale” Festival in Berlin, that is taking place from November 2 to 19, is dedicated to Danube – river of tales, and brings together tales from countries like Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. During this event organized by the general mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, over 800 events are scheduled, dedicated both to children and adults. According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau, the current edition of the “Fairy Tale” Festival aims to promote the multicultural linguistic patrimony, to promote tolerance and compromise between cultures, to identify the significance of the stories and to develop fantasy in children. The Republic of Moldova Embassy has held on November 9 a reunion in which about 60 young people from Berlin had the opportunity to know our cultural values, our customs, and could listen to Moldovan folk tales recited in German by Gerd Appenzeller, chief-editor of the well known „Der Tagesspiegel” newspaper. Yearly, the Festival is attended by almost 80 thousand spectators, and the Festival’s promotional leaflet has 50 thousand printed copies, distributed for free.
