Moldova takes 7th place at swimming in Youth Olympics

One of Moldova's best results obtained by its athletes at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing is that of swimmer Alexei Sancov. The 15-year-old competed today in the 800 meters crawl contest and finished 7th out of 26, with a time of 8:06.54, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Youth and Sport informs that Alexei Sancov's time translates into 802 points that, according to the chart of the International Federation of Swimming, is enough for awarding the title of International Master of Sports.

The Youth Olympics are taking place in Nanjing, China, between August 16 and 28. Moldova is represented by 11 athletes in 7 competitions.
