The Republic of Moldova occupies the 134th position among 145 countries in the world military strength rankings compiled by Global Firepower. Compared to last year, the state moved up 10 spots, and the Ministry of Defense of Moldova says the rise is due to "the training and dedication of each person in the defense institution”, IPN reports.
Moldova's place in the rankings is between Gabon and Iceland. Ukraine is in 20th place, Romania - in 51st.
The top five countries in the world military strength rankings, those with the most powerful armies in the world, are the United States of America, Russia, China, India and South Korea.
