Moldova switches to summer time this Sunday

On March 29, which is the last Sunday of March, Moldova will switch to summer time. Clocks will be turned back one hour and 3am will become 4am, IPN reports.

Moldova stated to change the time in spring and in autumn in 1979 so as to save daylight and to reduce artificial lighting. Such a practice was used in 110 countries.

On March 26, 2019, the MEPs voted to abolish the seasonal time change in the European Union as of 2021. The Government of the Republic of Moldova said it will follow the EU member state’s decision.

Russian stopped changing the time in 2014. This way, after switching to summer time, Chisinau and Moscow will have the same hour.

The difference in time between Moldova and other states where Moldovan migrants are concentrated remained the same: Italy, Spain, France are one hour behind; Portugal, the UK and Northern Ireland are two hours behind, while the time in Greece and Israel is the same as in Moldova.
