Moldova started year with electricity and gas. Crisis is experienced in Transnistrian region

"Moldova started the new year with electricity and gas for all citizens on the right bank of the Nistru. The electricity consumption was fully covered thanks to the coordinated efforts of the authorities and diversified sources, including imports from Romania," said the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă.

He noted that the enterprises Termoelectrica and CET-Nord work at full capacity and no incidents were witnessed. The gas stocks purchased for the right bank are enough for the whole cold period.

On the other hand, Daniel Vodă said that the population on the left bank of the Nistru is experiencing a critical situation after gas and heat supplies were stopped. "The Transnistrian region is going through a difficult period. Russian blackmail must stop," said the Government’s spokesman.

According to Daniel Vodă, Chisinau stands by the people living on the left bank of the Nistru and is making effort to identify alternative solutions.
