Moldova, Spain to sign driver's license conversion agreement
Two models of driving licenses issued by Moldova – DL1995 (approved by Government ordinance on 20 November 1995) and DL2008 ( approved by Government ordinance on 7 October 2008) – will be convertible in Spain, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Moldovan Government initiated negotiations and will soon sign an agreement with Spain to make that possible.
Information Development Minister Pavel Buceatchi (the Information Development Ministry is the agency authorized to issued driver's licenses in Moldova) said the initiative to sign an agreement came from the Spanish authorities, who argued that the document would benefit the numerous group of Moldovan nationals working in Spain. In addition, the agreement is required by the provisions of the 2006 EU directive stipulating a single type of driving license to be used across the European Union.
Buceatchi said the agreement will benefit greatly the Moldovan citizens at employment in Spain.
In turn, Moldova will convert the Spain-issued models SP1, SP2, and SP3.
