Moldova signs CIS documents ‘with certain reserves’

At the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States that took place in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe on Friday, Moldova has signed, with certain reserves, a number of documents concerning the honouring of international obligations by Moldova, an agreement on a new concept for reforming the organisation, and a plan of actions for its implementation, the Moldovan presidential service said in a press release. Moldova’s delegation also signed, with the same reserves, the Interstate Programme of joint measures of combating crime for 2008-2010; the Programme of cooperation against illegal circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances; the Programme of cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism for 2008-2010. The summit agenda contained more than 20 items. The participants agreed to gather for the next CIS summit in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek, in September 2008. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the CIS summit was headed by President Vladimir Voronin. During his visit to Dushanbe, President Voronin also participated in meetings with heads of state, members of the Eurasian Economic Community, in which Moldova holds a status of observer, another presidential press release informs, without giving further details.
