Moldova signs agreement to enhance diaspora participation in socioeconomic growth

Moldova has signed an Agreement to implement the second phase of the project “Consolidating Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework” , the Government said in a press release.

The project aims to support our country's effort to consolidate the positive impact of migration on Moldova's socioeconomic growth by strengthening the local and national institutional framework, engaging the private sector and increasing diaspora's commitment.

The Agreement was signed today by Government's Secretary General Lilia Palii and Simone Giger, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova.

The document covers activities planned by the Moldovan authorities until 2019 that aim to increase diaspora's participation in the development of our country.

The Agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State Chancellery and the Swiss Cooperation Office in 2016 under the “Making the Most of Migration” Program.

Under the Agreement, the Swiss Cooperation Office will provide up to 4 million lei in financial support.
