Moldova should obtain right to export poultry meat and eggs to EU in two years, minister

It is important that the Republic of Moldova should not lose the opportunity and obtain the right in two years to export poultry meat and eggs to the EU, which is a market with a very big export growth potential. In this connection, the country should be ready to ensure a successful audit mission of the EU in 2019, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici stated in a working meeting that assessed the implementation of the roadmap for obtaining the right to export poultry meat and eggs of group B to the EU, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure says it was noted that Moldova should make progress in the process of exporting products (meat and eggs of group B) and should swiftly take action to equip the animal health laboratory and to have these accredited. It should also continue to harmonize the national legislation with the European requirements and norms, create a unit for processing meat industry waste at national level, increase the capacities of the national competent institutions and identify possibilities for supporting the national companies that manufacture animal products.

If Moldova takes these measures, the audit mission of the EU will come to Moldova in 2019. It will be then decided if Moldova could export poultry meat and eggs to the EU. Exports to the EU will grow if Moldova fully uses the opportunities provided by the DCFTA and extends the list of products exported to the EU with products of animal origin and derivatives.
