Moldova sends its contributions to European Commission’s enlargement report

The Republic of Moldova sent its contributions to the European Commission’s enlargement report. According to Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, this is a historic moment in the process of joining the EU, IPN reports.

“This is a first exercise of the kind for our country. It is an exercise within which hundreds of employees of state institutions depicted the progress and reforms of the past year in about 1,000 pages. We are waiting for the assessment of the European Commission and are optimistic that the enlargement report will reflect our progress, strengthening the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova,” said Nicu Popescu.

The basic objectives concerning Moldova’s accession to the EU were set out by President Maia Sandu in the meeting of the National Commission for European Integration. Moldova’s contribution was approved last week by the governmental commission for European integration that is chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

“This general involvement shows our firm and irreversible commitment to the European course and the wish to continue with the reforms that will bring real benefits to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Nicu Popescu.
