Moldova is interested in opening a diplomatic mission in Egypt and appreciates Egypt’s decision to authorize the opening of a Moldovan Honorary Consulate in Cairo. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, held in New York.
The two officials discussed the strengthening of the bilateral legal framework and the resumption of negotiations on a free trade agreement.
“I expressed the Republic of Moldova’s interest in borrowing Egypt’s experience in the field of renewable and sustainable energy, but also the intention to attract Egyptian investments in agriculture, medicine, and so on,” said Popșoi.
The official invited his Egyptian counterpart to visit Moldova.
Mihai Popșoi traveled to New York to attend the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as other related events.
