Former President Igor Dodon on February 22 launched the public association Moldova-Russia Business Union whose goal is to assist companies in identifying commercial partners, to implement investment projects and to develop cooperation relations in such areas as industry, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, transport, logistics, municipal services and information technology, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Igor Dodon, who is the Union’s president, said that the Moldovan-Russian commercial relations had been strengthened considerably in Moldova in 2017-2020. There were held economic forums and signed a series of cooperation agreements between companies, business associations and local administrations. Business missions were staged and a Moldovan-Russian Economic Council worked. The taken steps contributed to an increase in Moldova’s exports to Russia.
According to Igor Dodon, the public organization “Business Russia”, which became co-founder and main partner of the Moldova-Russia Business Union, played an important role in developing cooperation relations between businesspeople of the two states.
The companies interested in joining the Union are urged to submit purposes, initiatives and project ideas that can bring benefits to Russian and Moldovan businesses. “In several months, at most until autumn, our Union will become the main association, the main liaison between business entities of Moldova and Russia,” stated Igor Dodon.
“Business Russia” president Alexei Repik said their organization has actively cooperated with Moldovan businesses since 2017 and has had a business ambassador in Moldova for over four years. They will support the activities of the Moldova-Russia Business Union by sharing their experience in improving the investment and business climate, promoting entrepreneurship development and implementing joint business projects. There will be staged webinars and roundtable meetings on the cooperation priorities by sectors and held a Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum. By concerted efforts, bilateral trade and investment activity will be expanded and joint associations will be founded.
Moldova-Russia Business Union vice president Vadim Yurchenko said the organization started work and is permanently in touch with representatives of the business community, who formulate different business proposals. He urged the enterprises in Moldova and Russia to submit proposals and initiatives to the Union, which is open to a dialogue.
