The Government of Moldova initiated negotiations with Romania on the agreement on anti-hail protection at the state border, IPN reports.

The project is based on bilateral cooperation in reducing the negative effect of natural disasters in the border area. The damage caused by hail in Moldova near the frontier, in the period between 2006 and 2012, was assessed at 62 million lei.

In the February 19 meeting of the Government, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov presented the plan of action for implementing the program to conserve and increase soil fertility for 2014-2016. Its implementation will help minimize or even stop the main forms of soil degradation and will enable to increase agricultural production.
