The Representative Office of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in Moldova donated equipment to the value of over US$21,000 to the Border Police of Moldova for developing their capacities to combat smuggling of tobacco products, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Border Police, the donation consists of computers, printers, photo and video cameras. The cooperation between JTI and the Moldovan authorities forms part of a global strategy of partnership with the competent institutions in fighting contraband. The previous years, the JTI Representative Office in Moldova donated €20,000 to the Customs Service for technical equipment and a unit of transport outfitted with special anti-fraud equipment as well as four canine teams for combating illegal trafficking in tobacco products.
