Moldova reads ‘together’

The three books that are promoted within this year’s edition of the campaign “Let’s read together” – “Desert rose” by Claudia Partole, “Newton’s walnut” by Iulian Filip and “Thinking of you” by Aurelian Silvestru – were distributed to all the country’s district. Over 20 meetings with the authors and more than 15 creation contests were held in the course of the year in different districts.

“These books were promoted in all the 32 districts. On average, each district got by 5-6 copies,” Eugenia Bejan, vice director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” stated, quoted by IPN. In the period of the campaign, the national libraries staged activities to promote the reading of the recommended books by public reading events, meetings with authors, debates and theater performances.

“Let’s read together” is a follow-up to the campaign “Moldova’s children read a book”. The organizers modified the title because the promoted books were read not only by children, but also by young people and grownups. “We aimed to promote valuable books of national authors, which contribute to the formation of children and teens. These are actually books that are read together,” said Eugenia Bejan.

The books promoted within the campaign were published during the last two years. The possibility of providing the libraries with these books was an important element of involvement in the campaign.
