Five Moldovan wresters won medals at the European Junior Freestyle Wrestling Championships that were held in the Spanish city of Pontevedra, IPN reports.

Vasile Diacon became European junior champion. In the 70 kg weight class, he scored four victories, against Elmar Kazimov of Azerbaijan, Tino Rettinger of Germany, Turkey’s Omer Faruk Cayir and Russia’s Magomed Abdulkadyrov.

Radu Lefter reached the final of the 97 kg class, but lost to Feyzullah Akturk of Turkey there. Bronze medals were won by Nicu Cataveica (57 kg), Nicolai Grahmez (65 kg) and Valentin Borzin (74 kg). In the medal standings, Moldova was outstripped by Russia only.
