The Republic of Moldova is the 18th in the world by the number of cases of COVID-19. Until April 7, Moldova has got 237,718 infections. Of these, 13,739 are active, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Tatiana Zatyk stated in a news conference, presenting updated information about the epidemiological situation, IPN reports.
The official said the number of new cases of COVID-19 has declined the last few days. A number of 316 infected persons are in a very serious state. The death toll due to the virus now stands at 5,268, with Moldova ranking 16th in the world by the number of deaths.
The average age of the infected persons is slightly over 51. The women and the urban areas prevail. The average incubation period is of five days. The number of infected children and pregnant women has increased. In total, 19,500 health workers contracted the novel coronavirus.
