Moldova prepared migration agreement with Russia for signing

The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family announced that the agreement on the migration of labor force between the governments of Moldova and Russia has been prepared for signing, but negotiations are now held with the Russian authorities for guaranteeing the right to pension of the Moldovans working in Russia, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Ministry says the social protection of the Moldovans is one of the priorities of the Government of Moldova. In a recent telephone discussion, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and his Russian counterpart Dmitri Medvedev agreed to develop the legal framework that will regulate this area.

According to the Ministry, the figure of 526,000 Moldovan migrants reported by the Federal Migration Service of Russia is exaggerated. This figure may represent the total number of Moldovans who cross the border with Russia during a year. Given the circular migration, it’s not excluded that some of the persons may be registered for several times. Chisinau wasn’t officially informed about the illegal stay of 190,000 Moldovans in Russia by the Russian law enforcement or labor market supervision bodies.

The communiqué also says that the Government of Moldova, in cooperation with a number of international institutions, has worked out broad policies on the reintegration of the migrants who return home. There is implemented the PARE 1+1 program for migrants that encourages the starting of own businesses. The National Employment Agency is providing assistance in looking for a job and in taking requalification courses for obtaining a profession that is in demand on the labor market.
