Moldova opened a diplomatic mission in Stockholm
The Republic of Moldova opened on Monday, June 12 a diplomatic mission in Stockholm, Sweden. The inauguration of the embassy took place during the visit to this country of the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan.
Natalia Gherman holds the office of ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Sweden. Gherman previously headed a diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova in Vienna, Austria.
According to a press release of MFAEI, members of the Swedish Royal Family, Parliament and Government, diplomatic personnel and representatives of mass-media participated at the opening of the mission. Within the ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Stockholm, a group of young singers from Moldova performed Moldovan folk songs, and also Swedish folk melodies. As well, the guest of the embassy had the possibility to appreciate the quality of Moldovan wines and divins (cognac-like beverages).
Within the visit to Sweden, Stratan met with high Swedish officials such as Carin Jamtin, the minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, the Minister for Cooperation in the Development Area, Jens Henriksson, State Finance Secretary and Sven-Eric Soder, State secretary for Industry and Commerce.
Carin Jamtin reiterated the support for the Republic of Moldova on its way to the European Union, mentioning that the embassy in Stockholm with accreditation in the North Countries, will contribute to the evolution of Moldova in the European Integration Process.
The embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Kingdom of Sweden is the 28th diplomatic mission of Moldova abroad.
