Moldova obtain first point in Word Cup qualifiers

Moldova' s national football team obtained a 0-0 draw with Ukraine in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2014, Info-Prim Neo reports. This the Moldovans' first point and it allowed them to move up from the bottom of Group H. The game showed by the two teams far from pleased the 10,000 fans in the stands of the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau. The Ukrainians were closer to grabbing a goal, as they missed several chances. The Moldovans had their chance as well. By the end of the game, Alexandru Dedov had a shot on goal, but was denied by the keeper. “The quality of game was of secondary importance. Our priority was a positive result. We had to rehabilitate ourselves in front of the fans after the previous defeats”, Moldova coach Ion Caras declared at the post-match press conference. “I cannot reproach anything to my players. We were in control during the game, but had bad luck. The ball simply wouldn't enter Moldova' s net”, said Ukraine caretaker coach Andrei Bali. Group H is topped by England, who bested San Marino 5-0 on Friday, October 12, and have 7 points. Montenegro and Poland shared the 2nd and 3rd places with 4 points each. Ukraine has 2 points, one more than Moldova, who sit 5th. San Marino failed to obtain a single point and are bottom of the group. The next games are scheduled for October 16, when San Marino play Moldova, Ukraine take on Montenegro and Poland host England.
