Moldova-North Carolina relationship to be further developed

The partnership between Moldova and North Carolina will be further developed in important areas such as healthcare, education, humanitarian assistance, agriculture and others. This was discussed by the vice president of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM), Valeriu Strelet, with North Carolina's Governor Beverly Eaves Perdue. Valeriu Strelet is visiting the U.S. during September 3-7, PLDM said in a press release. In the beginning of the meeting, PLDM’s vice persident made a review of the political, economic and institutional reforms that the Moldovan government promised to implement in order to reach the European integration objective. In this context, Valeriu Strelet talked about PLDM’s activity in both Parliament and Government. The discussions between Valeriu Strelet and Beverly Perdue were mainly focused on the possibilities to capitalize on the co-operation potential between Moldova and the United States. Valeriu Strelet has emphasized on the fact that the Group of Friends of Moldova in the U.S. Congress “Congressional Moldova Caucus” is an important political platform for intensifying and consolidating the commercial and economic relations between the two countries. For her part, Beverly Perdue has underlined that she will encourage North Carolinian congressmen as well as other politicians that are related to North Carolina, to support Moldova. Valeriu Strelet also had a short exchange of opinions with the former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. During September 3-7, Valeriu Strelet is participating in the International Leaders’ Forum, organized by the National Democratic Institute.
