Moldova negotiates US$62 million loan for road reconstruction

The Republic of Moldova will take out a loan from the Government of China to finance the repair of two road sections - R3 Chisinau-Hancesti-Cimislia-Basarabeasca, which is 39 km long, and M21 Chisinau-Dubasari, which is 9 km long. The Government Wednesday approved the initiation of the negotiations on the loan, Info-Prim Neo reports. The group of negotiators will be headed by Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta. The loan of US$62.4 million will be provided through the Export-Import Bank of China. The roads will be reconstructed and extended. There will be built a bridge and rehabilitated 28 existing bridges and 116 sewerage channels. Both of the road sections have by two lanes for two directions. The project will be implemented during three years. The loan is repayable in 20 years, with a grace period of 5 years, at an interest rate of 2%. A basic condition for granting the loan is to make at least 50% of the total purchases within the project from the People’s Republic of China. The works will be executed by the Chinese company Sinohydro Corporation Limited.
