The Republic of Moldova needs the union with Romania as it didn’t distinguish itself as a state and does not have the capacity to manage itself. If it units with Romania, the Republic of Moldova will integrate into the EU and will join NATO and will this way ensure the economic, social, energy and national security, members of the Movement “Professionalism and Responsibility for the People” (PRO) stated in a news conference at IPN on November 26.
PRO Movement leader Gheorghe Costandachi said that since 1991, when the Republic of Moldova gained its independence, the Moldovan people have never been independent. At a distance of 27 years, we continue to be influenced from outside. The Soviet mentality continues to dominate and many people expect someone will come and offer them benefits. The union should take place as soon as possible so that we become Europeans and each Moldovan has a job and a safe source of livelihood.
The leader of the PRO Movement noted that unionism has been considerably exploited by some of the political parties in time, without these doing something concrete to ensure the union. “It is known that the Republic of Moldova is a captured state. The union has a meaning and a purpose. There is no other solution for solving the problems faced by the Republic of Moldova,” stated Gheorghe Costandachi.
PRO Movement expert Alexandru Gamanji said that since 2010, together with the intensification of the relations between Moldova and Romania, Moldova’s exports to Romania have grown. The business entities have a large market where they can sell their products after the Russian Federation imposed a ban on the import of a number of Moldovan products.
Igor Borfotina, a member of the PRO Movement, said the financial support provided to Moldova by Romania is consistent. Money was allocated for renovating kindergartens, in budget support and in the form of scholarships to Moldovans who went to study in Romania. With Romania’s support, the National Museum of Arts and the Organ Hall were renovated. Romania donated 100 school minibuses, almost 200 cars for police stations, ambulances. The SMURD project is being implemented. There were repaired churches, schools, health institutions etc. The building of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline is being financially supported by Romania.
