The Republic of Moldova needs the external financing to be unblocked and to receive the Romanian loan before the presidential elections or a pro-Russian candidate could win these, said experts invited to the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Political analyst Roman Mihaes considers that Romania should continue to support the Republic of Moldova so that an anti-European candidate is not chosen as Head of State. “Romania should provide the financing it promised to Moldova, regardless of the party that is in power and of the fact that former Premier Filat stands trial. Or the candidate of the extremist left could win the elections and this would be a geopolitical catastrophe. The main problems faced now by our country are economic and financial in character. That’s why the financial assistance must reach us before October 30, 2016,” he stated.
Alexandrul Cauia, who heads the youth organization of the Democratic Party, pleaded for the acceleration of reforms so as to obtain the unlocking of external financing. “It’s hard to do reforms before elections, but these must be implemented. The public administration system must be reformed so as to cut costs. The costs need to be optimized not only in the public sector,” he said.
Journalist Valentin Buda considers the financing of Moldova by Bucharest will not change the perception of Romania of the majority of the Moldovans. “The Republic of Moldova received a number of financial injections from the Romania state, but many people here didn’t change their geopolitical preferences,” said the journalist.
