At the end of next August, Moldova will be able to sign the Association Agreement with the EU and this will be the next stage in the accession process, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in the program “In Depth” on ProTV channel. According to him, Moldova fulfilled all the conditions and will initial the Association Agreement with the EU in Vilnius at the end of this month, IPN reports.
Marian Lupu said the Vilnius Summit is very important at this stage and of great responsibility for the future as much more work is to be done after the initialing. During the last visit paid by the leaders of the ruling parties to Brussels, there was agreed a plan of priority actions that will be carried out immediately after the initialing.
“The signing will take place at the end of next summer or the start of next autumn. We will draft a so-called roadmap or association agenda where we will lay short-term emphases, for at most 10 months,” said the Democratic leader.
According to him, the signing of the Association Agreement for the ordinary people will bring first of all privileged relations with the EU, which will open its enormous and qualitative market for trade.
Another advantage is the liberalization of the visa regime that may take place by the end of next year. “Many things are yet to be done and I assure you that we will make effort to achieve this goal as soon as possible,” said the leader of the PDM.
As to the fight against corruption, which is the phenomenon for which Moldova loses ground, Marian Lupu said this is a system problem that affected the whole society. It can disappear not only by penalizing high-ranking officials, but also when the mentality will change at society level.
