The women’s national tennis team of Moldova scored a victory in the first match played in the Federations Cup Europe/Africa Zone third group. They beat Kenya 3-0, IPN reports.
Iulia Helbet brought the first point after defeating Evelyn Otula 6-1, 6-2. Anastasia Vdovenco won against Caroline Oduor 6-1, 6-4. In the doubles, Helbet and Gabriela Porubin beat the pair Otula / Oduor 6-0, 7-5.
In order to qualify for the final stage of the competition, Moldova must defeat Ireland on May 10.
The other encounters of the day ended as follows: Egypt - Armenia 2-0, Denmark - Namibia, Norway – Cyprus 3-0, and Liechtenstein - Madagascar 3-0.
