The national football team of Moldova suffered the seventh consecutive defeat in the qualifying competition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Moldova was beaten by Israel in Beer Sheva 1-2, IPN reports.
Eran Zahavi and Munas Dabbur scored for the hosts, while Ion Nicolaescu set the final scoreline in the last minute of the second half. Moldova had fewer players on the field after Oleg Ryabchuk was sent off in the 85th minute.
After the match, captain Igor Armaș announced his withdrawal from the national team. “I wasn’t the best at the national team, but I never refused to play for the team. I always struggled till the end. I suffered the most serious injury with the national team, but I do not regret anything,” said the 34-year-old fullback.
In another match of Group F, Denmark defeated Austria 1-0 and qualified for the World Cup finals that will take place in Qatar during November 21 – December 18.
