The Republic of Moldova will apply the Uniform Rules concerning the Contract for International Rail Transport throughout the railroad infrastructure, with a total length of 1,086 km.
The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a bill to amend the law on the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF). By the given amendment, the process of joining the Convention will be completed, IPN reports.
When Moldova will be a party to COTIF, the volume of freight in transit through two border crossing points - Ungheni-Iasi and Giurgiulești-Galați - will increase, as will the competition capacity on the transit routes of Moldova’s Railways and revenues from freight transit charges, according to the Government’s press service.
