Moldova, Italy to cooperate in fighting crime

The Moldovan police will cooperate with their Italian colleagues in consolidating national security and maintaining public order in both countries. The Moldovan Government has approved the initiation of negotiations on an agreement with the Italian authorities regarding security cooperation.

“The purpose of this agreement is to promote, develop and strengthen police cooperation in order to prevent and combat crime in all its forms, especially in the context of alignment with European Union standards”, stated Minister of the Interior Adrian Efros.

By signing the agreement, the national authorities will have the opportunity to conclude technical arrangements with the Italian authorities in the field of fighting crime on the basis of equal and mutually beneficial conditions, Efros added.

The minister also stated that the agreement will encourage good practices and enable joint projects.
