Head of Parliament Igor Corman said that Moldova is now ready to sign and ratify the Association Agreement with the European Union. In a meeting with a group of German MPs, he noted Germany’s new openness in the relations with Moldova, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Parliament’s press service, Igor Corman met with German lawmakers Manuel Sarrazin and Marieluise Beck, with whom he discussed Moldova’s European agenda and the strengthening of the Moldovan-German relations, including at parliamentary level.
The Speaker spoke about the progress made by Moldova on the path to European integration, mentioning the initialing of the Association Agreement and the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU. The officials also discussed the events in the region and the cooperation with the traditional Eastern partners, including within the CIS.
The MPs said that Germany follows with interest the developments in Moldova and in the region, underlining that the Bundestag will continue to support Moldova in its modernization and European integration efforts.
