The Republic of Moldova is no longer visited by foreign officials of the highest ranks because these do not have what to support and who to meet with here, Alexei Tulbure, Moldova’s ex-representative to the UN and the Council of Europe, stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.
According to him, the visits paid to Moldova by the Federal Chancellor of Germany, the Vice President of the U.S. and chiefs of the European Union were powerfully symbolical and showed political support for what was happening in Moldova. “After the US$ 1 billion was stolen and after the elections of 2014, everyone realized that something else is going on here. The financing was halted. The Republic of Moldova was named a captured state and these visits of political sport stopped as there is nothing and no one who can be supported here,” stated Alexei Tulbure.
Iulian Groza, ex-deputy minister of foreign affairs, said Moldova is not visited by high-raking foreign officials because the period is different. “The period of 2009-2014 was somehow related to that confidence and image crisis experienced by the Republic of Moldova after the Communist rule. However, there is a very close affinity between the political families ruling in Moldova and those ruling in the European Union,” stated Iulian Groza.
