Moldova is determined to become a future EU member, deputy prime minister

Moldova is determined to become a future member state of the European Union. European integration, through the deep, complex and necessary reforms, as per the wish of the Moldovan people, is the only way for a peaceful development of the region, stated Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, during a meeting with EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.

Poescu declared that the Republic of Moldova relies on the support of the European institutions and the EU member states for the launch of EU accession negotiations once the recommendations formulated by the European Commission are implemented.

“I also had an exchange of opinions with the Commissioner regarding the organization of the European Political Community Summit next year, an event that we will hold to strengthen cooperation on the European continent”, Nicu Popescu was quoted in a press release.

The meeting with Olivér Várhelyi took place in Brussels, where Nicu Popescu is participating in in a ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership.
