Moldova intent to hold Francophonie Summit in Chisinau
Moldova is willing to host the 14th Francophonie Summit in 2012. The proposal was made by the Moldovan deputation at the 12th summit of the International French-Speaking Organization held in Quebec from October 17 to 19, Info-Prim Neo has learnt form the Foreign Ministry.
The summit was attended by 50 heads of states and governments. The Moldovan deputy foreign minister, Eugenia Kistruga, read out a message from Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, at the plenary session, expressing Moldova's support for the Francophonie's values.
Referring to Moldova's reality, the President reiterated this country's European vocation, mentioning as a new goal the development of a new political dialog with the EU, which would be a more advanced cooperation basis, including in terms of free movement of the Moldovan citizens.
Moldova asks the French-speaking countries to assist it in its efforts to settle the Transnistrian conflict.
The declaration adopted at the closure of the Quebec summit re-states the support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of Moldova, internationally recognized, greeting the country's authorities' efforts settle the Trannsitrian conflict in the 5+2 format of talks.
The next summit of the Francophonie will take place in 2010 in Madagascar.
