Moldova in darkness

Street lighting continues to be a problem for many settlements in Moldova. The towns of Anenii Noi, Soldanesti and Cainari remain in darkness. In Glodeni, the streets are 6% lit, while in Basarabeasca – 13% lit, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the National Bureau of Statistics’ data for 2008. The Chisinau residents are the luckiest. Half of the lamps placed last year (69,000 in the whole country) were fixed in the capital city. 10% of the lamps were put in Balti, 5% – in Ungheni, while 2% – in Rascani town. Twenty-five towns do not have pluvial drainage systems.
