Moldova hosts "DO IT TOGETHER!" workshop, dialogue for Civic Public Partnership

Chisinau will turn into a center of national and international dialogue on cooperation between the public authorities and civil society during November 25-27. The hodling of the international workshop "DO IT TOGETHER! Co-creation of the Concept of Civic Public Partnership", organized by the Coalition of the Independent Cultural Sector (CSCI), was announced at a news conference hosted by IPN.

The event aims to develop a new model of participatory governance – the Civic Public Partnership (CPP), an alternative to public-private partnerships. In contrast to these, the CPP prioritizes the public interest and the direct involvement of citizens in the management of public resources.

Moldova's independent cultural sector is affected by the lack of appropriate infrastructure. Unused public buildings, many of which are historical monuments, are in a state of disrepair and high rental costs limit independent organizations’ access. "The lack of accessible infrastructure for independent artists is a major problem, while public spaces remain abandoned," said Diana Munteanu, coordinator of the event.

The author of the CPP legal framework Anatolii Albin explained that "it is essential to have a legal framework that supports civic initiatives, ensuring access to infrastructure without exaggerated costs or bureaucratic barriers".

Teodora Panuș, national moderator of the workshop, said that "the authorities and civil society will sit at the same table in order to build together a framework that meets real needs, to discuss equity and practical solutions for using abandoned public spaces".

During the three days, the participants will have thematic sessions, roundtable meetings and practical workshops. The topics covered include democratization of access to public infrastructure, participatory governance and fair cooperation between the authorities and civil society.

The event will conclude with the development of a preliminary concept for the CPP, which will serve as a basis for future policies and regulations on the sustainable and accessible use of public resources.
