Moldova hopes to sign contract with Gazprom by end-March
The administration of Gazprom hasn’t yet given signals about the resumption of the talks on the new contact for the supply of natural gas to Moldova. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the Russian company is now preoccupied with the talks held with Ukraine and the political processes in Russia, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Valeriu Lazar reiterated that the delay in resuming the talks will not affect the supply of the Moldovan end-users with gas. The contract for the supply of gas that expired on December 31, 2011 was extended until the end of the first quarter of this year.
”We hope the new contract will be signed by the end of March, but the negotiations are like the tango – if a partner does not move, the other partner cannot move and the dance stops,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The representatives of SA Moldovagaz and other responsible persons who form part of the group of negotiators on behalf of Moldova are waiting for the date of the next round of talks with Gazrpom to be fixed.
