The Republic of Moldova has 613,800 COVID-19 vaccines that enable to immunize 10% of the county’s population, IPN quoted the secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Igor Curov as saying in a news conference.
He noted that Moldova now has 266,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, 24,570 doses of Pfizer vaccine, 152,000 Sinopharm doses, 71,000 Sputnik V vaccines doses and 100,000 Sinovac doses.
Alexei Ceban, epidemiologist of the National Public Health Agency, said that in 0.95% of the cases, there were reported adverse events following immunization. 96% of these events were minor ones, while the others were moderate ones – fever of 38-39 degrees Celsius and allergy.
According to him, over 80% of the employees of the municipal hospitals have been vaccinated against COVID-19. 95% of the employees of the Municipal Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital and 90% of the staff of the Republican Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga” have been immunized by now.
Ninel Revenco, coordinator of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign, said the people will not be able to choose the vaccine with which they will be immunized. All the vaccines are safe and only the efficiency percentage makes them different. A high COVID-19 vaccination rate was reported in such countries as the UK, Israel, the U.S., Chile and the United Arab Emirates.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection on April 26 reported 246 new case of COVID-19. As many as 2,184 patients confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 are now in hospitals and 226 of them are in a very serious state. Forty patients were put on a ventilator. Fifteen persons succumbed to COVID-19 yesterday.
